The BEST!

LOGLINE

Everyday people working “regular” jobs battle against one another in fun and fierce challenges to prove they are the best at what they do for a living.

THE SHOW

The world is obsessed with who’s the best… the best athlete, the best performer, the best chef… the list goes on and on. But nobody ever seems to talk about who’s the best dog walker or the best bookkeeper, yet those are the jobs most people perform, the job that hardly even get the notice of their bosses, no less the public. These people work their asses off everyday to make sure the company they work for and our country runs smoothly. It’s time we take notice! THE BEST is a game show where people who perform underappreciated jobs get the opportunity to prove they are the best at what they do. Each week 5 contestants, identified for their exceptional talent in a specific occupation, compete against each other in challenges that are designed to test the most important skills of that job. One week might be a search for the best fry cook and another week might be dedicated to finding the best mail delivery person. Half tongue-in-cheek yet totally sincere, each episode of THE BEST will be an all-out battle that celebrates the contributions everyday people make.

THE BEST is a fun, spirited show that truly celebrates the real people that make our country move. Whether it be an episode finding the best shipping clerk or the best nurse’s assistant or the best barista, THE BEST is a show that will appeal to families, and people of all ages and backgrounds. Action… humor… variety… let’s face it, THE BEST is… you guessed it… THE BEST!

SAMPLE SHOW

Every 60-minute episode of THE BEST starts with five contestants. These contestants compete in four challenges, three based on the primary skills of that week’s occupation and one final challenge. Contestants eliminate one another in each round, until “The Best” is the only one standing.

Opening

THE BEST ’s sarcastic and edgy host opens the show, “Welcome to The Best, the only show that dares to ask the question, ‘Who’s the best at doing what REAL people REALLY do?’ This week on The Best, we’re going to find out who the best retail sales associate in

America is.”

In a short video package, we are introduced to this week’s five competitors, who share what they think the primary skills of their job is and why they think they’re going to win this week’s competition.

Challenges

Challenge One

Challenge one is a physical challenge. Before the challenge begins, our Host

introduces the five contestants once again and the three skills that will be tested this week, “Multi-tasking, product knowledge, and friendliness.”

“Great sales associates can do a million things at once,” our host states, as s/he introduces the first challenge to test the contestants in their ability to multi-task. Each contestant stands in front of a table with a stack of plates in different colors, a telephone, and a balloon. They have one minute to sort as many plates as they can by color. At the same time, they have to keep the balloon in the air and answer the telephone each time it rings. If the balloon falls to the ground, or they don’t pick up the phone by the third ring, they are finished. Contestants get points for how many seconds they lasted and how many plates they sorted. The one with the least amount of points goes home.

Challenge Two

Challenge two is a mental challenge. Our Host tells the four contestants left, “As you know, it is vital that a great sales associate knows the product up and down. This takes being a quick learner and having a great memory.” S/he then introduces the second challenge to test the contestants ability in product knowledge. All the contestants are shown videos of 5 random people sharing information about themselves for a dating site. After they watch the videos, they are quizzed on how well they know the potential daters. All the contestants are asked a question, and they write down their answers. All

at once, they show their answers. After 10 questions, the contestant with the lowest score goes home.

Challenge Three

Challenge three is a field test. The contestants all meet our Host at a busy outdoor mall. “One of the most important qualities of a great sales associate is how friendly they are. Nobody likes a sales associate that makes you feel like their doing YOU a favor by selling you something.” Our Host explains to the remaining three contestants that they will go around the mall trying to make people smile. For each person that smiles, they get a point. For 3 minutes, the contestants run around doing anything they can to make people smile. The one who inspires the least amount of smiles goes home.

Final Challenge

The last challenge is a test of the actual job itself. Our two remaining contestants meet the Host in a Gap store. S/he explains that the contestants will have to fold a pile of shirts that are a complete mess, go to the register and scan in another pile of items, and lastly take a rack of shirts on hangers and put them in their proper place. To make it even more difficult, every time a “customer” enters the store a tone will go off, and the contestant will have 3 seconds to run over and greet them. Time is added on for any mistakes. The contestant with the shortest time, wins a cash prize, but most importantly,

earns the title of “The Best Sales Associate in America.”
